What has become of the St. Clair Theatre Guild?

A message from SCTG President Brian Moss:

Nothing…… and Everything.

The Board of Directors while recovering from the “Fifty Years of Broadway” production celebrating our fifty years of existence, has been hard at work looking to insure the organizations ability to continue for at least another fifty years.

Consequently, we have not put forward any membership or patron drives in 2018 as we regroup and reorganize. All of this will change in preparation for a 2019 SCTG Season. The Board has begun negotiations with a talented group of young adults to prepare a theatre season for 2019.

In the last few years we were forced to abandon non-musical productions as the interest in ‘straight’ plays declined.  More recently, however, we have not been able to do major musicals due to lack of participation (a major musical requires 40-50 on stage). As a result we are going to revert to non-musical, small cast plays requiring a smaller venue than the Performing Arts Center [seating 600+], and the venue search continues.

2018 did see our Annual Fundraiser “Dueling Pianos” benefiting the John and Avis Cobb Fine Arts Scholarship. A 2019 fund raiser planning is already under way scheduled for March 2nd at Columbia Banquet Center. SCTG / Susquatch will again prepare and enter a float for the Saint Clair Lighted Santa Parade.

Please stand by as we prepare as many as four small cast plays for 2019.
