As required by the by-laws, the Annual General Meeting of the membership of the St. Clair Theatre Guild will be held on the third Sunday in September, which is September 19th, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

The business meeting will be preceded by our annual picnic at the Guild Building, which will begin at 2:00 p.m. The Guild will provide the hot dogs and buns; bring a dish to pass and your own beverages! It’s always an enjoyable afternoon at the building, and fun for the whole family.

There are five vacancies on the board of directors to be elected at the meeting. If you are interested in running for one of the board positions, please contact Jo Lantz using the contact form on the website.

“Once Upon a Time: Far Out Fairytales” tickets on sale

Tickets are now available for Once Upon a Time: Far Out Fairytales. Tickets are available at St. Clair Pharmacy and The Grape and Cheddar (both in St. Clair) and at Suzanne’s in Marysville. Tickets are $15.00 for adults and $12.00 for students and seniors.

Show dates are June 3rd and 4th.

The show will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall in St. Clair on Rattle Run. We will be selling hot dogs, chili, popcorn, pop and candy. We we also be having a baked goods sale.

Auditions for our next fundraiser – Once Upon a Time – Far Out Fairytales – will be on Monday, April 12th and Tuesday, April 13th, 6:00 to 8:00 pm each evening at the SCTG Building on Goffe St. in St. Clair.

Another great show! Cabaret 2010!

Congratulations to the cast and crew of “Cabaret 2010!” It was a great show that had the audience laughing, cheering and singing along. Great solo and ensemble performances, accompanied by Mark Meier and Company, and hosted by emcee Ernest Werth. A nearly full house (very good to see considering the other competitive events also scheduled for Saturday night) enjoyed every minute of the show, as well as the post-show music and dancing.

A big thank you to Colleen Anderson and Kerry Cote for directing this year’s production, Fred Smith and Jo Lantz for producing, Mark Meier for his musical direction, Sue Daniels for choreography and stage management, Pat Simons and Kevin Bandlow for running the spotlights, Nick Meier and crew for lights and sound, and Brian Moss for logistics and other trouble-shooting. Christine Watters handled the beverage runs this year, and Doreen Kephart was on the cash box, while Debbie Boulier and Chris Babbitt handled tickets (and security) at the door.

This year’s cast included Christine Allen, Sharon and Mike Bickley, David Brozo, Karen Getz, Dan Gurnsey, Kim LaDuke, Charlene LeBlanc, Kim Moore, Dana Sullivan, Chrissie Schrader, Debbie Seidel, Jordan Yeip, Kerry Cote and Colleen Anderson.

And thank you to our great audience! You raised over $1,100 for the John and Avis Cobb Memorial Fine Arts Scholarship through your generous purchase of 50/50 tickets, and supported the Guild through your attendance. We’ll see you next year!

March board meeting

The SCTG Board of Directors will have a monthly meeting on March 16th. The board meets on the third Tuesday of the month at the SCTG Building in Klecha Little League Park in St. Clair. Board meetings begin at 7:00 p.m.

All meetings are open to SCTG members. However, if you would like have an item placed on the agenda you need to submit in writing to the president or the secretary in order to keep the meetings orderly. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

John & Avis Cobb Scholarship

Applications are now being accepted for the 2010 John & Avis Cobb Memorial Fine Arts Scholarship. Each year, one or more scholarships are awarded to worthy local students who are or will be studying arts-related subjects at a college, university or other institution. All applications must be received by not later than May 10, 2010.

Cabaret 2010!

Our annual “Cabaret” variety show will be performed on March 13, 2010 at the St. Clair Knights of Columbus Hall. This year’s show will be directed by Colleen Anderson and Kerry Cote and hosted by Ernest Werth and Colleen Anderson. Fred Smith and Jo Lantz will produce.

Musical accompaniment and post-show entertainment will be provided by Mark Meier & Co.
